Stedelijk Museum’s controversial new identity by Armand Mevis & Linda Van Deursen
The museum in Amsterdam displays classic modern art, contemporary art and design, but is currently closed for major renovations. It’s due to re-open on the 23rd September this year with a complete re-brand.
The new logo uses the Union typeface, designed by Amsterdam-based Radim Peško - a fusion of Helvetica and Arial (“intended for situations where Helvetica seems too sophisticated and Arial too vulgar, or vice versa”, says Peško). Union is expected to be used across all of the museums branding.
